The short version
CanopyTwinexists to map orchards, not people. We collect the minimum needed to run the product, we don't sell data, and we don't run third-party advertising or cross-site tracking anywhere — website or mobile app.
Website
Hosting & logs. The site runs on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (IP address, request path, timestamps) for operations and abuse prevention.
Analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics, which is aggregate and cookie-free. We do not use advertising pixels or cross-site trackers.
Cookies. Functional only: a session cookie when you sign in to your account, an access cookie after you enter the shared demo password, and feature-flag overrides if you use the developer switchboard. No tracking cookies.
Forms. If you contact us or request the field guide, we store what you submit (name, email, message, farm details) in our database to respond and to send what you asked for. Nothing else is done with it.
Payments. If and when paid plans are active, payments are processed by Stripe; card details go to Stripe, not to our servers.
Mobile app
No tracking. The app contains no advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.
Sign-in. You sign in with your account email and password (or the legacy shared farm password). The app stores a session token on your device in the system keychain — never the password itself.
Photos, voice notes & captures. Survey captures stay on your device until you choose to sync or submit them. When you do, the app uploads the capture to your farm's account on our servers: the photo itself, its capture time and GPS coordinates, any typed note, and — if you recorded one — the voice note audio and its transcript. Photos you submit to the diagnosis and nursery-inventory features are likewise uploaded for analysis. Captures you don't sync never leave the device, and you can delete them there at any time.
AI processing. Photos and voice notes you submit are processed by our AI providers to produce the results you asked for — tree and fruit detection, disease diagnosis, plant identification, and voice transcription — under API agreements that do not permit the providers to use your content to train their models.
Purchases. Subscriptions bought in the iOS app are billed by Apple. We receive the signed transaction (product, status, and transaction identifiers) to activate your plan — never your card details.
Location.Used only while the app is open, only to tag captures with the tree's position. Denying location still lets you capture — photos are simply saved without coordinates.
Map tiles.Satellite imagery is fetched from Esri's public tile service, which sees standard tile requests (your IP and the map area viewed), as with any online map.
Who we share data with
Only the infrastructure that runs the product: Vercel (hosting and photo storage), Neon (database), Stripe (web payments), Apple (App Store billing for iOS subscriptions), our AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Modal, and fal — solely to process the photos and audio you submit and return results), Esri (map tiles), and Open-Meteo (weather, requested by our servers — not by your device). We never sell personal data and have no advertising partners.
Retention & your choices
Form submissions and survey data are kept while the product relationship lasts. You can ask us to delete anything you've submitted. App captures live on your device and are yours to delete at any time in the Capture tab.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account and everything in it — organization, farms, trees, photos, voice notes, and subscription records — by emailing support@canopytwin.com (see canopytwin.com/contact) from the email on the account. We complete deletion within 30 days and confirm when it's done. If you subscribed through the App Store, also cancel the subscription in your Apple Account settings — Apple controls that billing relationship, and deleting the account does not cancel it.
Contact
Questions or deletion requests: email support@canopytwin.com (canopytwin.com/contact). If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
